About the Scheme
Barakat exists to make home-based care genuinely accountable — for the families who rely on it, and the educators who deliver it.
Our Approach
Family day care sits in a unique spot: children get the warmth of a real home and a small group, while families and regulators still need the accountability of a licensed, monitored service. Barakat's role is to be that bridge — assessing and supporting every educator in our network so families can trust what's happening behind each front door, and educators have real backing to run their business well.
Our Philosophy
Mission Statement — At Barakat Family Day Care, the safety, wellbeing, and best interests of children are our paramount consideration. We provide a child-safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where every child is respected, valued, and supported to learn, grow, and thrive. We honour Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and embed their perspectives throughout our practice.
Our curriculum is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and My Time, Our Place (MTOP), supporting children to experience Belonging, Being, and Becoming through meaningful, play-based learning. We value children’s agency, rights, wellbeing, and voice, and embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives throughout our practice.
We recognise each child as a capable and unique individual. The safety, wellbeing, and best interests of children are our paramount consideration. We value each child’s strengths, culture, identity, and voice, uphold their rights, promote their participation, and foster respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures.
We recognise families as children’s first and most influential teachers, playing a vital role in shaping their identity, culture, values, and wellbeing. We value respectful and collaborative partnerships with families to support each child’s safety, wellbeing, learning, development, and sense of belonging.
We foster strong connections with families, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and the wider community, supporting children’s sense of belonging, inclusion, and active participation in their world.
We promote collaborative leadership, respectful partnerships, and ongoing professional learning to support children’s safety, wellbeing, and positive outcomes. Guided by the Early Childhood Australia Code of Ethics, we are committed to continuous improvement and embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in our practice.

Meet the Team
Supports every educator with training, compliance checks, and program guidance, and is families' main point of contact from enquiry through enrolment.
As our educator network grows, we're looking for experienced early childhood professionals to join our coordination team.
