Family day care in Australia operates under the Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations, assessed by ACECQA against the National Quality Standard. Here's how that applies inside our scheme.

Every family day care service is assessed against seven quality areas by ACECQA, with ratings reviewed every 2–3 years. Barakat is currently rated Meeting National Quality Standard. Educator Obligations

What every registered educator must maintain

  • Working With Children Check — renewed before expiry, verified by the coordinator.
  • First Aid / CPR / Anaphylaxis — current certification, renewed every 3 years (CPR annually).
  • Child protection training — completed on induction and refreshed periodically.
  • Public liability insurance — maintained through the scheme.
  • Educator-to-child ratios — maintained at all times per regulation.
  • Home safety audit — annual review of the care environment.
  • Quarterly program documentation — educational program planning submitted for review.
  • Incident & medication records — logged and reported per regulation.

Quality Improvement & Self-Assessment

At Barakat Family Day Care, we are committed to continuous improvement and providing high-quality education and care for every child.

Our self-assessment and Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) help us reflect on our practices, recognise our strengths, identify areas for improvement and plan meaningful actions to enhance outcomes for children and families.

Our ongoing improvement process is guided by the National Quality Standard (NQS) and informed by reflection, consultation and feedback from our educators, children, families and community.

We believe that quality improvement is an ongoing journey, and your voice matters. Families and community members are welcome to share their feedback, suggestions and ideas or request access to our current QIP.
